Menz, Women's Soccer Receive BCCAA Honours PDF Print E-mail

Lucas MenzSquamish, B.C. -  Quest University’s first post-season athletic awards were won today by Lucas Menz (Handsworth/North Vancouver B.C.) and the entire Women’s team.  Menz, the first year goalkeeper was voted to the BCCAA 2nd Team while the Women’s team received the Mike Bartram Fair Play Award.

“I think Lucas has fully deserved his selection in the All Star team, commented Men’s coach Adam Day (2nd Year).  “Lucas has brought everything to the table that a coach can ask for these past 2 seasons. His work rate, desire, commitment and eagerness to improve along with his excellent academic results show the perfect example of what any student / athlete can achieve.”

Menz, although in his first year of eligibility is the starting Goal Keeper for the second season as he commited to being a part of help building the Kermode Soccer program last year.

Said Day, “Lucas was made vice-captain this season because he showed those attributes last season and he has gone from strength to strength since being named the teams player of the year last season.”

“We are lucky at Quest to have an outstanding Goal Keeper coach in Michael Norris who has worked very closely with both our keepers this season and I truly believe that Mickey' expertise has pushed both Evan Cross (Howe Sound/Squamish, B.C.) and Lucas on to better things this year. We are fortunate to have 2 top keepers and Evans ability has pushed Lucas on even more this season so it is credit to all 3 of them and of course Lucas in particular that this award reflects the quality of our Goalkeeping program.”

The Women in their first year in BCCAA League play were voted recipients of  the Mike Bartram Fair Play Award as voted on by the league coaches.

“The Quest women’s soccer team is honoured to have been awarded the Mike Bartram Fair Play Award.” said Head Coach Martina Franko (2nd Year).  “The team approached every game with a great attitude on and off the field.  The women strived to play their best and battled with relentless energy in every game.  Our team never gave up in their quest for victory.  I am proud that the other teams have recognized us for this achievement.”
