New Westminister - On Royal Avenue, conference action heated up as the Quest Kermodies battled with the Douglas College Royals throughout a tight first quarter where both teams struggled to find the basket. Early in the second quarter the Kermodies used a stifling defense to produce a 16-7 run on their way to a 33-25 halftime lead. From there the Kermodies cruised to victory 69-51. Lead by fourth year post, Nicola Hitchcock who recorded a double-double with 17 points and 17 rebounds the Quest women controlled the pace of the game throughout. Cynthia Lau chipped in with 12 points and 4 steals leading a defence that caused 26 turnovers and often limited the Royals to one shot as the Kermodes out-rebounded them by a 56-41 margin. Royals star Quincie Onyejekwe was held to 16 points on 4/23 shooting while Haylee Antaya contributed with 13 points for Douglas College. The Kermodies next action is Saturday night as they visit the Columbia Bible College BearCats while the Royals will face Capilano at Home. |
