Kermodes Claw Cats PDF Print E-mail

Abbotsford, BC - It took a few minutes for the Kermodes to find their form but after 2 early lead changes and a couple of ties they took off on a couple of runs turning the BearCats over and converting easy scores on their way to the 87-55 win.

"Tonight was a good opportunity to spread the minutes out heading into the non-conference season and the winter break, " reported coach Mike Woollard.  "The girls came out focused and with an extra gear defensively which really sparked our transition game making it really fun to watch.  In the second half, we tried to execute more throughly and I felt we were in control the entire way."

Ten Kermodies reached the scoresheet lead by Katryn Sandbichler's 19 points and 8 rebounds.  Three other Kermodies scored in the double digets as Maja Smiljic went 5/8 from down town to collect 17 points, while Hillary Young provided 14 and Shayna Cameron scored 11.  Having another pretty good night was Cynthia Lau who collected 5 assists to go along with her 8 points and 3 steals.

The Bearcats were lead by Melissa Spring who recorded a monster double-double of 16 points and 28 rebounds.

Next action for the Kermodes as they travel to Moses Lake for the Big Bend Classic to take on Spokane Falls and Big Bend C.C.  next Friday and Saturday.  They will be back in the Den for conference play on Thursday January 19th as Capilano comes to town.
