Kermodes Shrink BigFoot In Classic Opener PDF Print E-mail
Moses Lake, WA - The Quest University Kermodes faced the Spokane Falls BigFoot in the opening game of the Big Bend Classic.  The BigFoot used some sharp shooting from Amanda Buttrey who was 3-6 from behind the arc to push their lead to 35-26 at the half.  

In the second half the Kermodes tightened up on the defensive end and found their shooting percentage improve markedly to come back from as much as 15 down to win 68-63.  "Tonight was a character win for us," commented Head Coach Mike Woollard after the contest, "it goes to show the drive, character and determination of the girls inside that dressing room.  I am extremely proud of the effort and attitude we put forward on the court tonight."  

Katrin Sandbichler lead the Kermodes going 14 of 14 from the charity stripe on her way to 20 points, 14 rebounds, 2 blocks and a 3 steals.  Other Kermodes of note on the night were Maja Smiljic who contributed 4 assists and 11 points on 3-3 shooting from downtown while Delainee Behrns and Cassidy Osterling  both scored 8.

Buttrey lead the BigFoot with 18 points and 6 rebounds, receiving some help from teammates Emily Abbot with 14 and Megan Tullis with 12.  

Next up for the Kermodes is tomorrows final which goes at 4pm against the hometown Vikings of Big Bend.
