Surrey, BC - Delainee Behrns came out on fire, scoring from inside and out as the Kermodes opened an 18-12 lead after the first quarter and extended it to 37-27 at half. The Kwantlen Polytechnic Eagles pushed back on the Kermodes lead by the tenetious play of guard Anna Work as she scored 6 of her nine in the quarter to close the gap. The fourth quarter opened with the score set at 51-44 and by 8:24 of the quarter the Eagles had closed within 5. A Kermodes timeout was quickly followed by a Katrin Sandbichler layin and a Maja Smilijic three which sparked a 21-5 run by the Kermodes to put the game out of reach. Delainee Behrns lead all scorers with 16 points and 4 assists while Maja Smilijic chipped in with 14 points. Nicola Hitchcock land Katrin Sandbichler ead the Kermodes on the boards recording 8 and 7 rebounds respectively while both scoring 11 points. The hometown Eagles were lead by 2nd year centre Samantha McPhail's 16 points. The next action for the Kermodes will see them travel back to the lower mainland to take on the Langara Falcons in Vancouver while the Eagles will host the Capilano Blues. Action begins at 6pm. |
