Vancouver, BC  -  A strong defensive effort right out of the gate helped push the Kermodes advantage to 15-5 after the first quarter.  Open shots howver refused to fall for the Kermodes as they struggled to score but still managed to hang on for the 48-39 victory.

"The girls came out and really defended well for most of the game.  I mean, we were not perfect and we gave up a few things especially at the end of the first half but for the most part we were extremely active defensively and made them work for every one of their buckets tonight." stated coach Mike Woollard.  Indeed they did, holding the Falcons three leading scorers to a combined 26 points on the evening on a combined 10 for 37 shooting.

Katrin Sandbichler lead with another double-double as she recorded 16 points and 14 rebounds.  Andrea Eidsvik completely shut down one of the better guards in the league defensively while recording 12 points and 4 assists.

The Falcons were lead by 5th year senior Carling Muir as she scored 22 points and recorded 14 rebounds over 40 minutes.

The Kermodes (7-4 PACWEST) will be in action next Saturday night as they travel up to Prince George to take on the league-leading and nationally ranked UNBC Timberwolves (10-0 PACWEST).  The next action in the Kave will see the Kermodes face off against the CBC Bearcats (0-11 PACWEST) on Friday February 10th.  Tipoff will be 6pm.
