Quest University Canada is pleased to announce the addition of three athletes to their Women’s Basketball team. Krystal Schouten, Delainee Behrns, and Soraya Jung should all be key contributor’s and will add depth to Head Coach Todd Jordan’s line-up. Krystal Schouten is a 6’1” post player from River East high school in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Krystal will be a force on the glass and a defensive presence on the Kermodes’ front line. Krystal was named athlete of the week in February of 2009 by the Manitoba High School Athletic Association and was also listed as one of the top ten female basketball players in Manitoba by the Winnipeg Sun. Coach Jordan is pleased with her addition. “Krystal played with the U17 provincial team in Manitoba and because of this has experience playing at a high level. She has been a leader with her high school team and I am looking forward to coaching her and integrating her abilities into our team concept. I think there is a good chance Krystal will be able to step in and have a major impact right away.” Delainee Behrns is a 5’5” point guard coming from Balgonie Greenall School which is located in the outskirts of Regina, Saskatchewan. Delainee will bring ball handling abilities and will help the Kermodes fill a void at the point guard position. “I’m very happy to have gotten confirmation of Delainee’s decision to attend Quest University,” stated Coach Jordan. “She’s going to be asked to step in and play major minutes at the point guard position. Delainee is going to have to adjust to a steep learning curve as the playing the point is always tough for a first year player, but from what I have seen of her she is going to invaluable to our ability to take care of the ball and run good offense.” Soray Jung is a 5’10” wing player from Salmon Arm, British Columbia. She played at Salmon Arm Secondary and graduated in 2008 before taking a year off of school before deciding to attend Quest. “Soraya brings some length and allows us to be a bit more flexible with our lineup as I think she’s going to be able to play a couple of different positions,” says Jordan. “She comes from a strong girls program at Salmon Arm and is very well coached. I’m looking forward to adding her to our mix of current players.” The Quest basketball teams will begin practicing when students return in September and you will be able to catch the women’s team on the court during their first home exhibition game Oct. 17th versus Kwantlen Polytechnic University of Surrey. The game tips off at noon. |
