Squamish, B.C. - The Quest Women’s team was hit hard this weekend with two losses. On Saturday, the women hosted Thompson Rivers University, and competed hard until the final minutes. TRU placed the first goal early in the game, with Krista Caldwell (Argyle/North Vancouver B.C.) responding shortly after for Quest. But TRU wasn’t satisfied with a draw, and snuck in another goal, taking the lead once again. Kermode’s midfielder Brittany Shalagan (Mount Sentinel/South Slocan B.C.) connected two free kicks from defender Lindsay Epp’s (Abbotsford) free kicks into the back of the TRU net, taking the lead for Quest. The Kermodes couldn’t hold on, allowing two goals within the last 10 minutes of play, finishing the game with a 4-3 loss. TRU is currently ranked 3rd in the league. On Sunday, the Quest women fell to a 4-1 loss against the UBC Okanagan Heat. Striker Melissa Nelson (Mount Sentinel/South Slocan B.C.) scored the lone goal for Quest in the second half. UBCO is currently ranked 5th in the league. Next weekend the Kermodes travel to UNBC to take on the Timberwolves. Currently, the Timberwolves are 2-2, and stand 4th in the league. Last weekend they defeated Kwantlen 2-1, but fell to Douglas College 0-1. |
